One Year of Extraordinary Journeys: The National Geographic Islander II

One year ago, Lindblad Expeditions warmly introduced a new shining star to their fleet.

This elegant and innovative ship has been the epitome of luxury and expeditionary spirit, offering an unprecedented level of immersive exploration throughout the beautiful Galápagos Islands. Today, as we commemorate the one-year anniversary of the NG Islander II, we reflect on the extraordinary journeys that she has embarked on and look forward to many more adventures to come.

The NG Islander II stands out not merely as an expedition vessel, but as an intimate haven, almost like a private yacht, that caters to discerning adventurers. With just 26 stately staterooms and suites accommodating a maximum of 48 guests, this beautiful ship offers an exclusive experience with a 1:1 guest-to-crew ratio. The Island Suites are an impressive 515 square feet, boasting a separate living area, walk-in closets, and an expansive bathroom with both a bathtub and a glassed-in rain shower. Each suite is uniquely adorned with commissioned art inspired by the island it is named after. Among many others, this attention to detail offers an exceptionally indulgent experience for all aboard.

The dedicated science hub, equipped with advanced scientific equipment, carries forth the Lindblad Expedition-National Geographic legacy of supporting conservation and research. It provides guests with the opportunity for hands-on learning, interactive video presentations, and an enhanced photographic experience, strengthening their connection to the environment around them. Combine this with a climate-controlled marina and teak decks, which provide an all-encompassing, immersive Ecuadorian experience onboard.

From the get-go, it became clear throughout the past year, this unique vessel has played host to numerous awe-struck guests. In fact, our very own Operations Manager, Keri Hearrell, and her husband Andy ventured this Spring on board the NG Islander II, and what stood out the most was how intimate the ship felt, and what incredible friendships were established in such a short time. An avid cruiser, this was Keri's 1st time to sail with Lindblad and her explanation about the richness of the education and knowledge of the expedition staff was beyond anything she imagined.

While the comfort and luxury that the NG Islander II offers are incomparable, what truly sets her apart are the enriching experiences she has enabled. Over the past year, guests have witnessed firsthand the ethereal beauty of bioluminescent bays, interacted closely with magnificent whales and playful dolphins, and discovered pristine, uncharted beaches - all facilitated by an exceptional crew. Their dedication and hard work have been crucial in delivering top-tier experiences to our guests while fostering a deep appreciation for our oceans and the unique ecosystems of the Galápagos Islands. As we celebrate the first anniversary of the National Geographic Islander II, we look forward to the future with excitement. Our greatest aspiration is that the NG Islander II continues to inspire, educate, and provide unforgettable experiences to all those who embark on her decks. Here's to a memorable first year and to many more years of epic explorations, discoveries, and adventures yet to come!
