ExpeditionTrips' Summer Adventures
We had an amazing summer here at ET—from hiking the Inca Trail to experiencing the culinary wonders of Sicily, and from an amazing triathlon finish to welcoming a 16th member to our crew! And now as the leaves begin to display their brilliant autumn colors, we reminisce fondly about our beautiful summer filled with international exploration, Pacific Northwest adventures, 4th of July family gatherings, beach combing and island getaways.
Congratulations to Travel Coordinator Jennifer Santoyo who recently was the 1st American woman to cross the finish line for her age group in the World Triathlon Grand Final! More than 3,000 athletes from more than 73 countries descended on Edmonton, Canada at the end of August to compete in this high caliber event. From Jennifer, “It was a great joy and honor to be part of Team USA and represent the United States. It was a monumental event in which the city of Edmonton executed brilliantly. I encourage everyone to say YES and give Tri a try! You won’t regret the journey!”
Welcome to Chris Myers, our newest Expedition Specialist! Chris grew up in the woods and waterways near the Chesapeake Bay. Fishing, camping and canoeing from an early age led to a passion for adventures in the natural world. After moving west to Oregon, the urge to travel became too much to resist so Chris bought a backpack and a ticket to Europe. He returned to the Pacific Northwest three years later after traveling around the world. Since that time, he has traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, and the Americas following his mother’s advice to “never take the same road twice." When a chance to work on expedition vessels in the polar regions presented itself, Chris could not resist. After a few years and dozens of trips to the Arctic and Antarctica, he finally decided to settle down in Seattle and enjoy adventures closer to home. As an avid rock climber, skier and backcountry adventurer, Chris loves living in the wild and beautiful Pacific Northwest. Since joining the ExpeditionTrips team, Chris channels his still-powerful wanderlust into helping others achieve their travel dreams.
ET’s President, Ashton Palmer, returned to Peru this summer to trek the Inca trail with his wife Hillary and a couple of friends. In addition to exploring the ancient Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, they also went to Lake Titicaca and visited Amaru in the Andes. The Amaru community is home to a cooperative group of women who are supporting their families by keeping traditional Peruvian weaving alive. Peru is a perennial favorite for authentic cultural experiences.
