Summary : Departing Ushuaia on January 30, 2019, Silversea’s ultra-luxurious ice-class crossover, Silver Cloud, will journey between Antarctica’s highlight destinations, before setting course for Chile’s Valparaiso via the Chilean Fjords. Subsequently, guests will set sail for the South Pacific Region, calling at Easter Island, the Pitcairn Islands, and French Polynesia, ahead of arriving in Papeete, Tahiti. Bora Bora, the Cook Islands, and the Samoa Islands are next, before Silver Cloud arrives in Lautoka, Fiji. After Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands and the remarkable Papua New Guinea, guests will reach Cairns, Australia. Subsequently, the spectacular Kimberley Coast beckons, before guests unlock various destinations in Indonesia and arrive in Singapore. Following another 10 days spent exploring the pristine islands of Indonesia, Silver Cloud will set sail for Sri Lanka and Cochin, India. After calling at Mormugao, guests will cross the Arabian Sea to Muscat, before discovering various other destinations in Oman and Egypt, including a transit of the famous Suez Canal. Then, Rhodes, Symi, Naxos and Folegandros will lead to Piraeus (Athens). Various calls in Greece, Albania and Tunisia will precede Silver Cloud’s arrival in the Italian islands of Sicily and Sardinia. Guests will then continue their expedition to Algeria and Spain, before reaching Lisbon, Portugal. A number of destinations in Portugal and Spain will then characterise the adventure, before France and the United Kingdom. Part of an emphatic conclusion, guests aboard Silversea’s 2021 Expedition World Cruise will then explore the highlights of Iceland, ahead of calls in the Svalbard Region and the voyage’s conclusion in Tromsø, Norway, on July 16, 2021.

Felicity Aston, MBE
Felicity Aston is the first and only woman in the world to ski across Antarctica alone. The 1744km, 59-day journey completed in January 2012 also made her the first person in the world to traverse the continent purely by muscle power without the aid of kites or machines, earning her a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. In 2015 she was awarded the Queen’s Polar Medal for services in Antarctica and was appointed MBE for services to Polar Exploration.

Prof. Glenn Summerhayes
Professor Summerhayes is a leading expert in Pacific Archaeology, with particular focus on the prehistory of Papua New Guinea. He has over 35 years research experience working in Papua New Guinea, focusing on all aspects of its archaeology from first colonisation, Holocene adaptation, the Lapita phenomenon and the development of societies seen at contact. In 2004 he took up the Chair of Anthropology at Otago University, New Zealand having previously been Head of the Department of Archaeology and Natural History in the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies, Australian National University. He is affiliated with both the University of Papua New Guinea and the National Museum and Art Gallery of Papua New Guinea. In 2014 he was awarded a New Year Honour by Queen Elizabeth II of PNG becoming an Officer of the Order of Logohu (OL) for his contribution to Archaeology in Papua New Guinea.

Chris Naunton
Dr Chris Naunton is an Egyptologist,writer and broadcaster. He has frequently appeared on television and radio in the UK and internationally, most notably as the presenter of ‘The Man Who Discovered Egypt’, 'Secrets of King Tut’s Treasures', and ‘The Pharaoh in the Suburbs’. He is the author of Searching for the Lost Tombs of Egypt (2018) and Egyptologists’ Notebooks (forthcoming, 2020). He was Director (CEO) of the Egypt Exploration Society from 2012 to 2016 and in 2015 he was elected President of the International Association of Egyptologists. He lives in London.
