I hope you are doing well, and that your loved ones, friends, and family are safe and healthy.

Here in Seattle, our ExpeditionTrips team is safe and well. We transitioned to working remotely just over a week ago, and we are in daily communication via video chat so we can continue business during this time. While this is a new reality for us, we appreciate the need to follow the recommended public health guidelines as we continue to look after you and share revised policies and procedures as they are released. We are also working hard to advocate for our clients who are still making their way home from their respective travel destinations. Know that, as always, our team of passionate travel experts care deeply about you and we will continue to do our best to serve you.

We are also taking time to practice gratitude, working on connecting and fostering community, and sending our thoughts to folks who are on the front lines of this crisis and those most vulnerable. This is certainly a time when we all need to bring our best selves to each interaction and give what we can to those in need.

There is no question that our world is in uncharted waters, and we want you to know first and foremost that the team at ExpeditionTrips is here to support you in every way we can. While there is currently understandable unease related to evolving restrictions on travel, I am confident this will pass with time, and our role of helping people reconnect with nature in our planet’s wild places will be more important than ever. 

In the meantime, the best way you can help us is to postpone making decisions to cancel travel that is a few months away or further out, if possible. Most expedition tour operators have released more lenient cancellation and payment policies in response to this event, which means that postponing your decision to travel or the trip itself is now easier than ever and can be done closer to departure. If you have questions about this, please reach out to our team of Expedition Advisors. 

I also ask for your patience as our wonderful team members work to assist those travelers impacted right now and those whose trips are in the near future. ExpeditionTrips is not immune to the impact this event has had on the travel industry and countless other small businesses, and to sustain longer-term operations we have had to scale back our team’s hours by 25% to weather this storm and brace for a time of reduced income. We look forward to scaling up to full-time as soon as global travel restrictions are lifted.

Lastly, I want to share our heartfelt gratitude for your continued support. We need you, our valued clients, to stay with us through this time. We greatly appreciate your words of encouragement, inspirational travel photos, and passion for the amazing experiences we have the honor to facilitate. You will be hearing from us more frequently during this time when many are more isolated, as we want to keep the lines of communication open and ensure we stay connected.

Although storms often rage and are always hard, even all-powerful nature cannot make a storm last forever. Working together, we are stronger and we will get through this.
