Area: Lodges, Peru

Overview: Thanks to its accessibility, excellent wildlife observation opportunities, and comfortable accommodations, Posada Amazonas provides an ideal introductory nature tour to Amazonia´s richest rain forests.

The lodge itself consists of a complex of ten sections: rooms, dining area and kitchen, relaxation area and internal support facilities. Posada Amazonas was constructed using a combination of modern eco-lodge techniques with traditional materials and architectural techniques of native communities throughout the Amazon: wood, palm fronds, wild cane and clay.

The dining area can host up to 80 people and can also be used as a conference room and slide presentation area. The meals are a mixture of international, Peruvian and local dishes. The staff are members of the local community. Guides are Peruvian naturalists or professional guides and local community members. All are trained in-house and guide at a maximum 10:1 guest to guide ratio.

Activities at the lodge include: visit to a 35 meter canopy tower, canoe ride around an oxbow lake in search of giant river otters, observation of parrot and parakeet clay licks, visit to the community Ethnobotanical Center, Nocturnal walks, hike on rain forest trail with community guide.
