Day 1
Reykjavik / Hafnarfjordur

Embark the vessel for introductions to crew and fellow travelers. Settle in to life onboard as you begin your voyage.

Day 2
Grundarfjordur, Iceland

At the end of a beautiful fjord, the natural port of Grundarfjordur is your stepping off point to explore the region’s extinct volcanoes. Explore the ancient post-glacial landscape and its rivers which have fashioned the countryside with gentle lines. Made famous by Jules Verne in his novel “Voyage to the Centre of the Earth”, Snaefellsjokull volcano watches over the village and peninsula from a lofty 1440 m.

Day 3
Grimsey Island, Iceland

Grimsey is a little island located 40 km north of mainland Iceland and is crossed by the symbolic line of the Arctic Polar Circle. Formed by volcanic rock that has generated majestic basalt pillars, it is a delight for photographers. The island has been inhabited since the Vikings came to Iceland and legend says that it takes its name from the colonial sailor Grìmur who sailed from the region of Sogn in Norway. Home to fabulous wildlife; observe numerous bird colonies nesting along the jagged cliffs. Keep an eye out for the ‘‘clowns of the sea’’, better known as the Atlantic Puffins. While many travelers come here in order to cross the invisible line into the Arctic Circle, the island is also famed as a place to observe the Midnight Sun.

Day 4
Akureyri, Iceland

Nestled in a fjord, the charming capital of north Iceland sits along the banks of the Eyjajordur. Delight in colorful houses glowing in the light of the midnight sun. It is from this enchanting city that you will set out for Lake Myvatn, whose savage beauty has been sculpted by a succession of volcanic eruptions and is home to the famous “Waterfall of the Gods”. The lake has a unique ecosystem as it lies at the crossroads of the great migratory routes and is a natural sanctuary for many bird species (Greylag geese, swans, ducks and Arctic terns). It’s a veritable paradise for ornithologists, and for those with a contemplative soul in search of secret spaces and mysterious charm. In this wild place, one’s imagination runs away with the landscape’s strange shapes. Legend has it that the trolls, elves and faeries of Iceland call this home.

Day 5
Isafjordur, Iceland

Explore a route to the heart of the fjords of northwest Iceland, a wild land of lost valleys and steep cliffs. In this very isolated region, discover the Isafjördur fjord, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the country forged by ancient basaltic flows. The village of Isafjördur nestled at the back of the fjord between imposing mountains is a delightful little town that lives exclusively from fishing. The capital of the western fjords, its old wooden houses bear witness to its past as a major fishing port. With its landscape of bold and raw colors, Iceland offers lovers of wide open spaces an endless variety of unlimited pleasures.

Day 6

Discover Heimaey’s rich history and captivating landscapes. A stunning landscape of vertical cliffs, reefs, marine caves and the ever-changing ocean, its home to seals and cetaceans such as the killer whale. Watch the comings and goings of puffins as they plunge into the sea.

Day 7
Reykjavik / Hafnarfjordur

Known as the “bay of steam” and coiled within a large bay sheltered from the wind, the world’s most northern capital is blessed with an almost surreal beauty. Founded by a Viking chief in 874, this fascinating and vibrant city is minutes away from fields of lava and the silvery reflections of the famous Blue Lagoon, a vast natural swimming pool.

Day 8
Reykjavik / Hafnarfjordur

Conclude your voyage of enchanting Iceland and disembark.
