Summary : This spectacular journey combines the rugged beauty of the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, the South Orkney Islands and the northern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula. Retraces Shackleton’s boat voyage from Elephant Island to South Georgia, and finish up in the Falkland Islands. South Georgia is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. On the northeastern flanks of the island, the harbors that once sheltered large fleets of whaling ships are now home to a staggering variety and profuse amount of wildlife. In Stromness and Grytviken Harbors, 3,000-meter peaks form dramatic backdrops to the remains of whaling stations while kelp-strewn beaches are cluttered with basking elephant seals and feisty fur seals. The nearby bays are home to literally hundreds of thousands of king, macaroni and rock hopper penguins.
Activities : Birding, Culture, Hiking, Kayaking

Board your included flight from Punta Arenas to Puerto Williams. Enjoy a guided tour of the rustic port and beautiful surrounds. Embark the ship in the late afternoon for introductions and safety briefings, followed by a sail through the Beagle Channel.
Get to know fellow passengers and take time to explore the ship. The Drake Passage offers excellent bird-watching from the outer decks or the warm bridge. Expedition team members present Zodiac and environmental briefings, and enlightening talks on Antarctica. Keen eyes watch for icebergs, penguins, whales, seals and cormorants as we approach our first landing in the South Shetland Islands.
Awaken to the thrill of Antarctica, with plans to visit busy penguin rookeries, historic sites and make a continental landing amidst amazing ice sculptures in changing shades of blue.
Visit Elephant Island, where Shackleton’s men wintered beneath their upturned boats. With luck, go ashore to pay tribute to these hardy souls.
Following in Shackleton’s wake, we cross the Scotia Sea, with a chance to visit the remote South Orkney Islands if ice conditions allow.
There’s ample time to explore South Georgia’s spectacular northern coast, including the world’s largest king penguin rookeries and majestic albatross nests. Kayakers revel in paddling the coastline’s nooks and crannies, accompanied by playful seals. In Stromness and Grytviken harbors, 3000-metre peaks form dramatic backdrops to the remains of whaling stations. Kelp-strewn beaches are cluttered with basking elephant seals, feisty fur seals and penguins.
Keep watch for the kelp-skirted Shag Rocks, as you cross the Scotia Sea, entertained and informed by your expert naturalist and historian. Reflect on your time in Antarctica and swap stories with fellow passengers as the ship heads towards the Falkland Islands.
Dawn greets us in the Falkland Islands capital, Stanley. Bid farewell to the ship and crew. Enjoy an included tour of Stanley and transfer to the airport before flying to Punta Arenas or Santiago, Chile.
