Day 1
Ushuaia, Argentina

Arrive in Ushuaia anytime today, with the day free to relax or experience the town and surroundings on your own. Enjoy the Argentinean markets and savory cuisine that make Patagonia famous as you explore the southernmost town in the world. Highlights of Ushuaia include an award-winning museum and trips to nearby Tierra del Fuego National Park and its popular “Train at the End of the World”. The optional evening briefing is a great opportunity to ask questions and meet some of your fellow travelers.

Day 2
Ushuaia / Embark

The morning is free to explore Ushuaia until a mid-afternoon transfer to the ship where you will be greeted by your Expedition Team and ship's officers at a safety and orientation briefing followed by the Captain's welcome dinner. After dinner, relax and take in the mountainous scenery on your early evening sail down the Beagle Channel past Magellanic Penguin, Rock Cormorant, and sea lion colonies.

Day 3 – 4
Drake Passage

Providing plenty of wildlife spotting opportunities, birds such as albatrosses, prions and petrels follow in the ship’s wake as you sail south. Your Expedition Team will be on deck as well, looking for whales and dolphins often seen in the area. Your experts will begin the presentations with informative and entertaining lectures on the wildlife, history, and geology of Antarctica. Helpful briefings on environmental regulations and expedition safety will also be held in the comfortable lecture hall as you make your approach to the South Shetland Islands.

Day 5 – 9
The Antarctic Peninsula / South Shetland Islands

The White Continent stretches before you, a land of extremes and extreme beauty. Your expedition leader and captain will create a flexible itinerary based on weather, ice, and opportunities for wildlife viewing. The route will focus on the most scenic bays and channels of the Peninsula with stops at penguin rookeries, seal wallows, bird colonies and whale feeding areas, as well as sites of historic and scientific interest. The trip may include picturesque Neko Harbor, sheltered Paradise Harbor, the humpback whale frequented Wilhelmina Bay, the striking Lemaire Channel, the wildlife-filled Penola Channel, or the majestic Neumayer Channel. You may stop at an active scientific base such as Poland’s Arctowksi or Ukraine’s Vernadskiy, as well as an historic base such as U.K.’s Port Lockroy or Wordie House. Adelie, Chinstrap and Gentoo Penguins abound, and Weddell, crabeater and elephant seals haul out of the sea to rest along with predatory leopard seals and the aggressive Antarctic fur seal. Minke, Humpback and Orca whales are frequent visitors of this region and provide many opportunities for whale sightings.

Day 10 – 11
Drake Passage

Your lecture series and wildlife sightings with continue as you sail back to Ushuaia and reflect on beautiful Antarctica and its wild inhabitants. Arrive at Ushuaia in the early morning hours.

Day 12
Disembark / Ushuaia, Argentina

This morning, disembark in Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost town, to catch flights homeward or continue on with your adventure.

Mandatory Travel Insurance
: All passengers are required to carry valid travel insurance. This insurance must contain medical and evacuation coverage. Cancellation and trip interruption insurance are strongly recommended as well. As any potential evacuation from Antarctica can cost up to $200,000, it is recommended that no policy carry less than this amount of coverage. Pre-departure forms will require information as to travel insurance carrier, policy number, and a 24 hour contact number. ExpeditionTrips strongly recommends that the travel insurance policy covers trip cancellation insurance, trip delay (interruption or after departure coverage), baggage and repatriation. ExpeditionTrips can assist U.S. residents with travel protection options. Other conditions may apply based on pre-existing conditions.

Fuel Surcharge

Kayaking (Optional): $695 per person
The kayaking option provides passengers with an up-close encounter of Antarctica. Any passenger in good health with basic paddling experience is welcome to join the program. Dry suits, neoprene gloves and personal flotation devices included. Space is limited; please enquire at the time of booking.

Camping (Optional): $125 per person
The camping option provides passengers with the ultimate camping experience on the ice of the Antarctic Peninsula. Camping in limited to one night per voyage. Insulated sleeping bag, sleeping bag liner, one dry-bag for pillow and change of dry clothes, mountaineering tents, limited number of mountaineering bivy sacks, and insulated sleeping pads are provided. Space is limited; please enquire at the time of booking.


One pre-voyage hotel night in designated embarkation city; early check-in (up to 24 hours prior to usual check-in time) available if requested with confirmed air itinerary, at least 90 days prior to departure; transfer from airport in embarkation city (Ushuaia Airport "USH") to group hotel if arriving on day 1 of itinerary; transfer from group hotel to ship for embarkation; group transfer from ship to airport or central location at disembarkation; cabin accommodations and meals aboard the ship; scheduled landings/ excursions; coffee/tea/cocoa 24 hours daily; welcome and farewell cocktails; house wine/beer/soft drink with dinner; commemorative Expedition Jacket (yours to keep); pair of boots for use during the voyage; citizen science program; WiFi from the public computers in the library; 100 minute WiFi card (for use on your personal device); daily international news service; all port fees; all landing fees; digital voyage log; champagne and chocolates on arrival, complimentary mini-bar, and $100 gift shop certificate for Owner's Suite, Penthouse, Veranda, Deluxe, Single, and Promenade cabin categories.
