Aug 2010

We're thrilled to announce our new partnership with InnerSea Discoveries, sister company to the award-winning American Safari Cruises, whose debut Alaska season is May 2011. The primary focus of InnerSea's trips aboard the Wilderness Adventurer and Wilderness Discoverer is choice.

Rise to a morning yoga class with stunning mountainous views as your backdrop. Kayak hidden coves and rugged coastlines in search of bears and bald eagles, or embark on an expert-led overnight wilderness backpacking trip. Then, at your leisure, retreat to your home base for a relaxing massage and Jacuzzi soak followed by engaging conversation about the day's adventures. The options are plentiful. The goal is to provide you with as many opportunities as possible to relax and explore with daily outdoor pursuits such as kayaking, hiking, caving, rafting, Zodiac tours, and native cultural demonstrations.

Choose between the eight-day Eastern Coves or Western Coves journey that encompass highlights of the Inside Passage between Juneau and Ketchikan; or combine the Eastern and Western Coves into one extraordinary experience on the 15-day Ultimate Adventure.

Highlights:

  • 49-passenger ships with 1-to-3 crew to guest ratio.
  • Myriad of activity choices with levels from moderate to vigorous.
  • Off-the-beaten path cultural excursions to learn of Native traditions.
  • Highly knowledgeable Expedition Leader and guides with years of experience in the area (lectures cover geology, glaciology, whales, etc.).
  • Casual, relaxed environment.
  • A selection of add-on options including overnight backpacking or kayaking adventure, river rafting, or jet boat excursion.
  • Select Family Discoveries departures.

A Word From...Abby in Alaska

ExpeditionTrips' Abby Suplizio sailed on an InnerSea Discoveries scouting trip earlier this summer, and reported back with rave reviews! She hiked, swam, enjoyed an overnight kayaking trip, relaxed, and gained new insight into Alaskan culture. Abby's Staff Review.
